The 2016 International Harp Festival will be held at the beautiful San Damiano Retreat Center in Northern California. We will bring together many of the harp community’s best clinicians and performers. Our mission is to educate and inspire you and to connect you to harpists from around the globe.

The festival will include One Day Intensive workshops as well as numerous 1 - 2 hour workshops. Topics include healing harp, Celtic and world music, liturgical harp, improvisation, and much more.

You will have time throughout the day to shop for harps, music, and accessories, and meet and mingle with other participants, the performers, and facilitators.

Every evening you will enjoy concerts featuring harpists performing The Blues, Straight Ahead Jazz, World Music, Folk and Classical repertoire.

Healthy Hand Techniques
Limited Capacity full

In 1987, Diana contracted a severe case of tendonitis from which 3 doctors told her she'd never playharp again. Unwilling to accept this verdict, she searched for alternative therapies and in the process discovered the work of Dr. Meir Schneider, a movement specialist. She studied privately with him for 5 years, and in the process, undid her tension (and resumed playing the harp) and learned techniques to increase awareness and facility. Over the years, she has expanded her knowledge of healing harp through studies of Alexander and Feldenkreis techniques, chiropractic work with Dr. Thomas Bloink, and the subtle energy work of Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross. She also brings meditation techniques from Buddhism which she has practiced for over 20 years. Diana has taught this workshop for over 15 years throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

  • Simple movement exercises to relieve pain and release tensions

  • Breathing techniques to increase sensation and sensitivity

  • Visualization and meditation techniques to deepen both physical and emotional awareness of your music

  • Special emphasis on techniques to increase flexibility, movement, and sensitivity in the hands
